VARIABLE SPEED PUMPS:

Interested in finding out what your pool is costing you annually in energy?  It is recommended to have all of your water filtered at least once a day.  We call it turning over or turn over rate per day.  Go to www.pentairpool.com/pool_pump_calc/index.htm  to see if you are running your pool too long and to look at your options in saving money on your electric bill.

What you will need to know:

1)   How many gallons is your pool?  The formula for gallons is L x W of the pool x averge depth x 7.5. Average depth would be depth of the shallow end plus depth of the deep end divided by 2.  EXAMPLE: L30 x W15 x Avg depth 5.5 (Deep 8', Shallow3' divided by 2) x 7.5. (7.5 represents lbs of water per cubic foot). So 30 x 15 x 5.5 x 7.5 =  18562 gallons.
2)   What is the horsepower of your pump and how many hours are you running your pump?
Look on the side of the pool motor and it will give you the HP (Horsepower).  Open the time clock box and look to see the hours of operation.  Those with remote systems will need to check their indoor remote panel.
3)   How many cents are you paying per Kilowatt?  Check your energy bill.  As of 1/1/10 DWP is charging 15 cents per KW.

After gathering all of your information and imputting the numbers you will see turns/day (or turn over rate) which is letting you know how many times your pool is being filtered per day at your current settings and costs associated.   Below that line you will see a new figure that allows you to see how many hours you need to run your pool equipment to achieve one turn over and the costs associatied.  Below that will be the cost savings of installing a variable speed pump that is in compliance of the Title 20 law that went into effect 1/1/09.

SALTWATER SYSTEMS:

No more waiting to swim after your poolman cleans your pool.  Prior to salt water pools your poolman would treat your pool with chlorine and you would have a very high residual that dissapated throughout the week just to have no more chlorine in the water when he arrives the following week.  Saltwater systems are designed to produce 100% pure chlorine daily which means you can run your pool with a very low residual.  No more skin and eye irratation!  The salinity level in the water is equivalent to your bodies sweat or a tear drop, so the water you are swimming in is as close to your bodies chemistry as possible.
With a saltwater system you will have less algae and cloudy water because your pool is being sanitized daily.  With that you will have less filter cleanings annually, less algaecide, and no extra chemical costs such as the costs associated with liquid chlorine and chlorine tablets.

REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS:

Never have to go out to your pool equipment area again in the dark to turn things on and off.
Everything is operated out of the palm of your hand.  From the handheld remote see the water and air temperatures, set pool and spa temperatures, turn on lights, low voltage lighting, pool pump, jet pump, and air blower.  You have the ability to program each piece of equipment.  Extend the life of your pool equipment and you pool piping with the built in freeze protection and the built in cool down delay mode after the heater shuts down.
