Pool Heater Repair

One of the more difficult part of your pool to fix, your pool heater repair needs are often best left to a professional service.

However, if you have the inclination or desire to clean your pool heater yourself, here is a list of some of the most common pool heater questions and answers to help you determine if your pool heater needs repairing.

1) Your pool heater isn’t heating your pool to your desired temperature.

If your pool heater isn’t heating your pool to your desired temperature, you may be experiencing a situation in which the heat loss in your pool is greater than the heat input. One way to remedy this is by installing a solar pool cover, or increasing the size of your pool heater to one that is capable of keeping up with the higher energy demand.

2) You frequently need to relight your pilot light.

If you are finding that you frequently need to relight your pool’s pilot light, you may have a loose or rusty connection between your pilot light’s thermocouple and your gas valve, and these connections need to be tightened, or replaced. If you are in high wind area, then you may need to install further insulation to keep your pilot light from going out. Give us a call and we can fix that for you.

3) Your pool heater won’t ignite.

If your pool heater won’t ignite, there are a number of things you may need to check. First, if your pool heater switch is on, then it could be that the thermostat is not set to a higher temperature than the water. If this is not the case, then it is also possible that the pool pump is not running, or that it doesn’t have a clean filter. Pool pumps that aren’t working can cause the pool heater to malfunction. If you still can’t get your pool heater to work, next the gas valve may be in the incorrect position, or the pilot light might not be lit.
